Realty Consultants commenced its residential real estate services in 1977. The start of the "RC One Stop Shop" began in 1983 when the charter of Realty Consultants of Virginia was changed to include all types of insurance. Realty Consultants became an Independent Insurance Agency, initially handling homeowner and auto policies and gradually became a full line insurance company including life, health, flood, boat insurance, etc.

Realty Consultants was initially a new homes company and in 1984 a planned growth in the listing and sales of existing homes was undertaken with the objective of a sales ratio of 50% new homes and 50% existing homes. That ratio was achieved in a few years.

As the company grew, so did the opportunity for rental management. A Property Management Department was formalized in 1986, which provided for an additional real estate service. Also in 1986, a Relocation Department was formed and staffed with a full-time relocation director, offering relocation services throughout the world.

Realty Consultants Escrow and Title Company was formed in 1993. This new company, now operating as Prime Title and Escrow Company, an affiliated company of Realty Consultants, was added to the growing list of real estate services being provided "under one roof" and under one management.

Starting as early as 1994, Realty Consultants was searching the marketplace for a mortgage operation to complete the concept of a full, complete one-stop real estate operation. In 1997, Mortgage Source Inc. also an affiliate of Realty Consultants' applied for and was approved by the Virginia Banking Commission as a Mortgage Broker and in 1998 was approved a Mortgage Lender with full service mortgage banking including conventional, VA, FHA and VHDA mortgages. With the addition of mortgage services, the first true and complete "One Stop Shop" for real estate services was established in all of South Eastern Virginia.

Realty Consultants franchised its residential sales division with Keller Williams International on May 1, 2008 and continues its residential sales as Keller Williams Town Center. In so doing this franchise, with the third largest and fastest growing Real Estate Company in United States, brings exceptional training and superior technological tools to insure that our affiliation will be a “win-win” for both our clients and agents.
